The Uni Leuven in Belgium is offering two PhD opportunities. 

The deadline for application materials is 30/04/2026. PhD 1 is about faunal materials and objects from the 2nd millenium BCE East Mediterranean https://www.kuleuven.be/personeel/jobsite/jobs/60632579 and the second one about floral materials and objects from the same period and area https://www.kuleuven.be/personeel/jobsite/jobs/60634171. The second PhD will concentrate on woven materials e.g. textiles, baskets, sacks, and mats from a range of different sources of data groups and via different methodologies. 

The EAA (European Association of Archaeologists) is looking for a new editor for their quarterly newsletter. The position is reimbursed by 1000 € per year and free membership in the EAA. (This could be a sneaky way to get more focus on textiles in archaeology!)

There's a new open access article out about "A Visual Method to Compare the Quality and Complexity of Archaological Textiles: The Cotton Mantas of Pre-Hispanic Colombia".
 
The CTR is continuing with their lecture series; on April 8, one is coming up about colour terms and their change. You can find more information here https://ctr.hum.ku.dk/calendar/2026/colour-terminology-and-colour-terms/ 

On June 11 and 12, there will be a workshop in Padova, Italy, about spliced textiles called "Transformations of the First Threads". You can find more information in the attached image, and the first day will be streamed via Zoom.
