Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Sometimes there's more delays than anticipated - as was the case with this year's Textile Forum planning. I am very sorry that it took so long, but there was a logistical issue to solve which was not done easily. Now I do not want to jinx it, but if you would like to participate, please save the date November 2 to November 8 this year. Our focus topic will be knots in all their glory - "Knots that hide, knots that show, knots that stay, knots that go". This means knots that are purely functional and hidden (like at the start of a sewing thread) to knots that are a main element of a textile (looking at you, nalbinding and netting), to knots that are part of textile tools (heddles or so many other places where a bit of string is holding it all together and making it work), to knots that are temporary, but indispensible (such as the knots for binding the warp when doing ikat).

If all goes as it hopefully will, the Call for Papers will be out shortly.

 

The NESAT 2027, which will take place in Glasgow on June 2-4 2027, has opened its Call for Papers. To submit a proposal, please use the  proforma in the 'Call for Papers' section of the NESAT XVI  website. The website includes information on registration, key dates and more. The Call is open until October 31, 2026. 

Another Call for Papers is issued by EXAR, the European Association for the Advancement of Archaeology by Experiment. The conference is September 25 and 26, and will take place in Weißenburg in Bavaria. CfP is available in German and English, but I am not current on the quota of German-language papers at the conference versus English language papers.
